“The Sky Isn’t the Limit” 2023 Mural – Groundswell & Brooklyn Nets Paint Day & Dedication

Groundswell NYC partnered with the Brooklyn Nets to create a large scale mural titled “The Sky Isn’t the Limit” at P.S. 938 and M.S. 935 in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn.

The mural was designed with students from both schools alongside Groundswell teaching artist Kristy McCarthy and assistant artist Eva Mariscal, and celebrates aspirations, diversity, and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) learning by depicting youth as astronauts, engineers, and artists — encouraging students to reach for their dreams.

The project included a community paint day and a mural dedication with members of the Brooklyn Nets, during which the mural was unveiled, and students participated in activities including a free basketball clinic hosted by the Nets Basketball Academy. To further honor the students’ work and the collaboration, Groundswell staff, students, families, and faculty were invited to attend a Nets game where the mural’s unveiling was shown on the arena’s Jumbotron.
