Associate Director of Programs

Casey Angelo

Casey Angelo is a visual artist and educator who joined Groundswell in 2018. For over a decade, Casey has developed and managed arts programs in New York City public schools and non-profit organizations. Prior to Groundswell, Casey worked at ArtsConnection where she managed multidisciplinary arts programs in K-12 public schools across New York City. Casey served as the Program Director for ArtsConnection’s only full-time DYCD-funded after-school program at MS 266 in Brooklyn. Her experience includes school and community-based restorative justice programs and alternative to incarceration initiatives that serve as meaningful alternatives to the carceral system.

Casey's work includes professional development for educators aimed at identifying and challenging cultural values and assumptions. These educational experiences promote asset-based pedagogy, shared authority, and transformative justice practices.

Casey is a native New Yorker and graduate of New York City public schools. She holds a B.A. in Art History from The University of Massachusetts Amherst and an M.A. in Childhood Education from Hunter College.
