Groundswell Artist

Iris Loughran

My name is Iris Ward Loughran (she/her/hers), and I'm a mixed-media artist mostly working in painting and photography. I studied Urban Planning and Visual Art at University of California San Diego, and I currently am pursuing a Masters in Fine Art at Rutgers University. My work is centered around urban landscapes, identity, and notions of social value. I am passionate about youth empowerment, art accessibility, and smashing the white-supremacist patriarchy! I joined the Groundswell community in 2015, and my favorite part about this work is that I'm able to experience different neighborhoods of New York City while making connections with young people that force me to grow and be more compassionate and loving.
