  • We Live Here

    We Live Here was designed to promote liveable streets in New York Citys largest walk-to-work community. In partnership with the New York City Department of Transportation and UPROSE, teen apprentice artists conducted studies on local traffic patterns and strategized ways to promote safety and respect amongst the many communities present in the neighborhood.

  • Believe in East New York

    Believe in East New York was developed for a neglected but highly visible wall outside the Broadway Junction subway station in East New York to help revitalize the community through the creation of locally-inspired public artwork.

  • Stop, Look, Listen

    Youth worked with the New York City Department of Transportations Office of Safety Education and the agencys Urban Art Program to create a mural entitled Stop, Look, Listen on a pedestrian and vehicle overpass in Sunset Park.

  • Infinite Dreams

    A team of youth led by artists Clare Herron and Grace Baley worked with The Trust for Public Land to transform PS 164's blacktop schoolyard into a green play space for the students and neighborhood residents.

  • Weaving Change Beyond the Shadows

    Together with the Community League of the Heights (CLOTH) and American Friends Service Committee, Groundswell youth explored alternatives to violence and peace promotion to create a new mural in Washington Heights.

  • React, Respect, Intersect

    React, Respect, Intersect was designed to promote traffic safety at the location of a dangerous intersection in Kensington, Brooklyn. Teen artists promoted safety and respect amongst the many communities present in the neighborhood through this mural.

  • Yield in the Name of Creativity

    In collaboration with artists Yana Dimitrova and Olivia Fu, 16 youth muralists created a new mural for the exterior of the High School for Arts and Business that speaks both to the importance of livable streets and the multiple roads leading to success for New York City youth.

  • All Services Entail Tender Loving Care and A Listening Ear

    All Services Entail Tender Loving Care and a Listening Ear was created by a team of youth commissioned by the Black Veterans for Social Justice (BVSJ) organization in Brooklyn.

  • Lutheran Mosaic

    Twelve youth participated in the creation of the Lutheran Mosaic, led by artists Clare Herron and Yana Dimitrova. The students identified symbols in nature to represent the diverse communities in Brooklyn.

  • Some Walls Are Invisible

    Dutch human rights charity Miles4Justice and the Red Hook Community Justice Center commissioned Groundswell to create a large-scale mural, entitled Some Walls Are Invisible, that honors the 400th anniversary of Dutch settlement in North America.

  • Justice Mandala

    Justice Mandala explores restorative justice: the act of seeking solutions that repair, reconcile, and rebuild relationships. A team of young artists, including some formerly incarcerated youth, transformed the State Street side of the Brooklyn Detention Complex.

  • Truth Be Sold

    Truth Be Sold was completed by twelve young women led by artists Katie Yamasaki and Menshahat Ebron in partnership with the Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation.

  • Roots of Knowledge

    Twelve youth accompanied by many volunteers and led by artists Belle Benfield and Sophia Dawson partnered with the Brooklyn Public Library to create this mosaic installed on the walls of the Brooklyn Public Library.

  • Connectivity Continued

    A group of eight young women worked with professional artists Crystal Bruno and Tanya Albrigtsen-Frable to create a colorful mural at the front entrance of PS 506 in Sunset Park, Brooklyn.

  • Bridging the Gap

    Bridging the Gap is a mural that highlights the importance of bridging the gap between community elders and youth as illustrated by different activities and services offered by Baileys Cafe.

  • Piece Out, Peace In

    Piece Out, Peace In is a collaborative gun violence prevention mural created in Crown Heights by Groundswell youth together with American Friends Service Committee and the Office of New York State Assemblymember Karim Camara.
