Many Faces of Our Community
During fall 2013, 5th grade students from PS 24 in Brooklyn came together with Groundswell to create 7 mini-murals that celebrate diversity within their community.

My New Rochelle
Through a partnership with the New Rochelle Arts Council and New Rochelle School District, Groundswell facilitated the collaborative research, design, and creation of a public art piece in New Rochelle.

Education is our Right and It’s All in How You Play Your Cards
Education Is Our Right focuses on an individuals right to higher learning. A mural team of students from Park Slope Collegiate High School investigated individual and societal perspectives on higher education.

Birds of Soluna
Birds of Soluna is an extension to a previous Groundswell mosaic installed on the outer faade of BRCs Casa de los Vecinos transitional housing residence for individuals living with mental illness.

Community and Collaborations for Health
“Community and Collaborations for Health” was created in partnership with the Mosholu Montefiore Community Center at PS 8. The mural is composed of a series of collaged images. At the center is a heart, framed by arms reaching out to the rest of the canvas.

CautionMan
Installed on a streetfacing wall of PS 10, "CautionMan" depicts an intersection with a crosswalk like those found adjacent to a school. Two children, painted in the style of a street sign silhouette, are about to step into the street.

Together We Build a Healthy Community
The imagery for "Together We Build a Healthy Community" is composed of a father and son on the left side of the panel overlooking a scene filled with vibrant images of a healthy community. The entire panel is painted over a wash of bright colors, symbolizing positivity and optimism.

Respect The Work
In this project, a group of Groundswell youth partnered with Domestic Workers United (DWU) and Jews for Racial and Economic Justice (JFREJ) to help organize domestic workers in their continued fight for justice, dignity, and respect.

The Legacy of Mother Cabrini: Story of Immigration
In 2012, the Society of the Citizens of Pozzallo partnered with Groundswell to create a mural honoring Mother Francesca Cabrini. Working through the Catholic Church, Mother Cabrini dedicated her life to helping poor Italian immigrants

Building A Change
In partnership with the Center for Court Innovation and its Red Hook Community Justice Center, a team of Groundswell youth created a vibrant new mural for installation in the Justice Centers community room.

Moving Together Towards a Healthy Bronx
In 2012, Groundswell partnered with Montefiore Medical Center and its Office of Community Health and Wellness Healing Arts Program to create five beautiful murals celebrating the theme: visions of a health community.

Here Goes Something (Part 1)
"Here Goes Something celebrates the rich and vibrant history of the Brooklyn Navy Yard. The mural was created by 19 fourth and fifth grade students from PS 307.

Dream, Heal, Change
Dream, Heal, Change was created by a group of young women incarcerated at the Rose M. Singer Center on Rikers Island. This mural is inspired by the concept of metamorphosis - physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

The Bloom of a Healthy Community
"The Bloom of a Healthy Community" depicts several vignettes of healthy activities supported by the branches of a massive tree. Vignettes include a man watering a community garden, children playing in safe, open spaces, and welcoming homes made of fruit.

Wings of Fitness
Wings of Fitness was created by incarcerated youth on Rikers Island. The mural illustrates personal responsibility, for both our health and well-being.

Be Amazing
In collaboration with Goodwill Industries and the New York City Department of Youth and Community Developments Cornerstone Program, Groundswell artists designed a mural honoring volunteerism and the community for the Farragut Houses Community Center.
