    Youth participating in Groundswell’s Summer Leadership Institute created a large-scale mural and developed imagery for a community organizing campaign to reclaim neighborhood streets from sustained traffic-related deaths in Downtown Brooklyn.

  • The Spirit of Rhythm

    “The Spirit of Rhythm” is located in the music wing of Brooklyn High School of the Arts. A group of art and music students participated in the creation of the mural by contributing drawings and suggestions for the design.

  • FUREE Downtown Campaign Poster

    Groundswell artist Christopher Cardinale worked with youth and adult members of Families United for Racial and Economic Equality (FUREE). Together, they designed a poster for FUREE’s Downtown Campaign to organize community members around the real estate development of Downtown Brooklyn.

    Through Groundswells Voices Herd Visionaries program, a team of young women created a large-scale mosaic in response to urban environmental issues.

    Youth participating in Groundswells afterschool Teen Empowerment Mural Apprenticeship (TEMA) program created a mural for the lobby of Trade Union SEIU 32BJs headquarters in Lower Manhattan.

    In creating this mural for PS 24, a bilingual magnet school in Sunset Park, Groundswell’s Voices Her’d Visionaries team decided to tell the stories of the thousands of immigrant mothers who come to New York City in search of a better life each year.

    Groundswell worked with elementary school students at PS 503 to create a mosaic to transform the schools entrance and make it more inviting.

    One Community, Many Voices includes images of bridges to symbolize a linking of cultures as well as people in both contemporary clothing and the traditional dress of the various African, Asian, Latino, Arab, and Caribbean cultures that make up the surrounding neighborhood.
