  • FUREE Downtown Campaign Poster

    Groundswell artist Christopher Cardinale worked with youth and adult members of Families United for Racial and Economic Equality (FUREE). Together, they designed a poster for FUREE’s Downtown Campaign to organize community members around the real estate development of Downtown Brooklyn.

  • Building Better Tomorrows

    As one of six projects created through Groundswell’s Summer Leadership Institute in 2007, young men in our Making His’tory program explored what it means to be an immigrant father in Brooklyn.

  • Farm Aid

    Groundswell attended the 2007 Farm Aid Concert, an annual benefit to promote and provide resources for the work of family farmers. Throughout the day, artists Eduardo Rabel and Clare Herron worked with concertgoers to collaboratively create a pair of banners exploring the idea of "home grown."

  • Future Leaders

    Future Leaders was created in one day by volunteers from Deloitte during a corporate volunteer opportunity at The Future Leaders Institute Charter School in Harlem.

  • The Animation State

    Through The Animation State, alumni from the Future Leadership Institute returned to their school to paint a mural celebrating the role of imagination in self-discovery.

  • UPROSE Buses

    Groundswell artist Christopher Cardinale worked with youth from environmental justice leader UPROSE to develop designs for a series of wrap-around vinyl banners.

  • The Spirit of Rhythm

    “The Spirit of Rhythm” is located in the music wing of Brooklyn High School of the Arts. A group of art and music students participated in the creation of the mural by contributing drawings and suggestions for the design.

  • Time Train

    As one of six projects created through Groundswell’s Summer Leadership Institute (SLI), youth worked with seniors to create a mural at the Hugh Gilroy Senior Center which brings to life Weeksville’s rich African American heritage.

  • Hunger for Knowledge

    Groundswell partnered with students at the High School for Leadership and Public Service to produce two banners for the schools lobby. The youth muralists developed themes that they felt illustrated the unique qualities of their education

  • Stronger Together

    Youth participating in Groundswells afterschool Teen Empowerment Mural Apprenticeship (TEMA) program created a mural for the lobby of Trade Union SEIU 32BJs headquarters in Lower Manhattan.

  • Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star

    Groundswell worked with elementary school students at PS 503 to create a mosaic to transform the schools entrance and make it more inviting.

  • One World Unity

    As part of our Summer Leadership Institute, Groundswell partnered with Neighbors Helping Neighbors to create a mural as part of the organizations neighborhood improvement efforts.

  • Weeksville: Past Forward

    This mural tells the story of Weeksville by examining the past, present, and future of this historic area. The mural begins its story of Weeksville’s history with the founding of the free Black community by James Weeks and six other freedmen.

  • Feels Like Home: An Immigrant Journey

    In creating this mural for PS 24, a bilingual magnet school in Sunset Park, Groundswell’s Voices Her’d Visionaries team decided to tell the stories of the thousands of immigrant mothers who come to New York City in search of a better life each year.

Today I Dare To Win,” created through Groundswell’s Voices Her’d Visionaries program, represents this community in four sections.
