  • I Deal, I Dream, I Do

    Created by young women participating in Groundswells Voices Herd Visionaries program, "I Deal, I Dream, I Do" was designed for the side of CHIPS, a transitional housing center for homeless women and children in Gowanus, Brooklyn.

  • Justice Everywhere

    To celebrate the opening of its new headquarters in 2003, Fifth Avenue Committee (FAC) commissioned Groundswell to paint a mural on the adjacent building to help lead visitors from 4th Avenue around the corner to the doors of the new center.

    Groundswell, Artmakers Inc, and the Lower East Side People's Federal Credit Union teamed up to create a mural to honor the memory of Eva Cockcroft and celebrate community mural making in New York.

    Making A Difference was created as part of a series of murals on the theme of Peace and Healing created in the aftermath of the attacks on New York and Washington, D.C. on September 11, 2001.

  • Woodhull Healing Mural

    Lead Artist Joe Matunis and his student muralists from El Puente Academy worked with Woodhull doctors, staff, and patients to design and paint a mural to make children more comfortable during their hospital stay.

  • The Children's Grove

    This mural was created for the Children's Grove Park in Bushwick, a park built by members of Make the Road by Walking/Se Hace el Camino al Andar for all residents of the neighborhood to enjoy.

  • Sunset Park Unity Mural

  • Washington Avenue Elephants

    Washington Avenue Elephants was created as part of a two day community mural jam, open to the public. The mural was the first in a series of murals to be painted along Washington Avenue.

    In the summer of 2000, sixteen fifth and sixth graders in a Brooklyn summer camp program worked with Groundswell and community partner, Warren Street Center, to create a mural on two adjacent walls.

  • Scene Through a Fence

    In the fall of 1999, IS 293 and college students from New York University came together in an educational exchange and collaborative mural project. The result was "Scene Through the Fence," a 16 foot high mural that stretches the full 125 feet of a formerly-graffitied schoolyard wall.
